Teaching

Teaching philosophy and course list.

I teach courses in Marketing, Business, and Data Science. In my teaching, I aim to use innovative methods that emphasize applied knowledge and student engagement rather than traditional oral presentations. My ultimate goal is to help students learn effective tools that enable them to maximize their impact on the world.

Courses I have helped to build up

  • Data-based Storytelling

This course offers students the opportunity to bridge the gap between data science and business decision‑making and to become “data translators.” It provides insights into the interaction of data, narratives, and visualizations, as well as the neuroscientific concepts underlying them. Students learn how to communicate data effectively when the intended audience is not familiar with statistical or data‑science terminology. This is achieved primarily through the use of visualizations. The learning content is introduced both theoretically and practically.

The course is taught through a combination of interactive sessions, class discussions, and student presentations. Theories are applied to real‑world examples and implemented by students in a mini‑project at the end of the course. The goal is to create an open learning environment that encourages trial‑and‑error, discussion, and the development of practical skills for data‑driven businesses. The course focuses on the (neural representation of) data visualization and the tools required to create interpretable and engaging diagrams for different audiences.

  • Cross-functional Management

This course connects four areas that are highly relevant to the business world: management, marketing, procurement and operations management, and logistics. It aims to teach students cross‑functional thinking, the ability to solve business problems, and an understanding of trade‑offs, process transformations, and the different perspectives of stakeholders.

The course is taught through a combination of interactive sessions, class discussions, pre‑, in‑, and after‑class assignments, quizzes, gamification elements, and brief student presentations. Theories are applied to a computer simulation that runs across all four seminar sessions.

Marketing consulting classes

  • Marketing Consulting Project C

    WU Vienna, winter semester 2025/26.

The objective of this project course is to develop an integrated communication concept for IKEA’s “Second Life Service and Shop” in the Austrian market, with the goal of strengthening its positioning against competitors and increasing brand awareness. This includes developing creative, well‑considered ideas and proposing suitable communication channels to reach IKEA’s target segments effectively.

The course is taught interactively, with students taking on the roles of junior consultants and lecturers acting as senior consultants. Throughout the course, students learn to analyze and interpret data on a real business problem, independently develop innovative solutions to those problems, and hold brief presentations, both with and without the project partner.
